Make sure the plug type you choose matches the outlet type you have at home. While many outlets look similar, they are definitely not the same. The one called NEMA 5-15 is the regular 120V household outlet that all home appliances use, while other outlet types, such as the 14-50 or 6-50 (The two most popular EV Charging Outlets), get installed specifically for appliances or EV Chargers that require 240V. That said, there are more 240V outlet types that are commonly used, such as the NEMA 14-30, 6-30, 6-20, L14-30, and more.

To preserve the EVs battery, it is advisable to charge from 20% to 80%. This is because charging slows down outside of this range and may impact future battery performance. How long does it take to charge the Mercedes EQS using different types of chargers? For instance, using a standard wall outlet can take up to 75 hours, while a Level 2 charger can reduce this time significantly.
The key benefit of upgrading your EV charger to a Level 2 charger is to maximize the efficiency of your EV charging times and costs. As per the table above, Level 2 (240-volt) charging will drastically reduce the total charge time and can be completed in 11.25 hours. The fast charging capabilities of upgraded chargers will allow you to benefit from cheaper overnight electricity rates from the full range of electric miles offered by the Mercedes EQS and allow you to enjoy the benefits of electric driving for longer distances.
The J1772 SAE Type 1 SAE charger connector will allow you to charge the Mercedes EQS at home, at work or at any public charge point or DC fast charger. The CCS connector is used for rapid charging, delivering a 20-80% charge in around 32 minutes. The vehicles on-board alternating current (AC) determines the maximum charge rate, 11kW/h and the car will only take the charge it is rated for. The CCS connector for rapid and ultra-rapid charging is essential for the Mercedes EQS SUV and the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC.
We have Mercedes EQS charging options to suit all EV owners, the most popular charger we have is the 14-50 40amp Level 2 240-volt EV charger as this provides the fastest charging speeds for home charging, this is also offered as a 6-50 40amp Level 2 charger. Some home chargers even support ultra rapid charging, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of charging your vehicle. A popular alternative is the 14-30 EV plug since it is a 240-volt plug that many households already have used for larger electrical appliances.
Due to the conveniences of home charging and lower overnight electricity costs, most EV owners opt to charge their vehicle, such as the Mercedes EQS, at home. However, there is an ever growing fleet of publicly available chargers whether at work, or at places such as strip malls, car parks or other City owned charging locations. Overnight stay locations such as camp grounds, RV Parks or other stay over facilities usually have charging facilities, mostly compatible with a 14-50 charging receptacle.
The cost of charging your Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC will vary depending on location (residential or commercial), U.S. State, time of day, or vehicle’s charging power. In some U.S. States, electricity is more expensive than the U.S. current averages for electricity of 20 ¢/kWh which has been used in the calculation below.

** Assumes tariff of 50 ¢/kWh applicable to most commercial Level 2 network EV chargers
You can charge your Mercedes EQS electric vehicle at any available Level 1, Level 2, and CCS commercial charging stations.
The fastest EV charging option for your Mercedes EQS is a Level 2, 32 amp or 40 amp, 240-volt charger which we offer as 14-50 or 6-50 EV Chargers. For even quicker charging, you can use rapid charging options available at certain commercial stations.
The Mercedes EQS uses a Type 1 SAE J1772 charging connector. As it currently stands, there are no NACs charger connectors compatible with Mercedes EVs.
Generally not, charging the Mercedes EQS with a Level 1 charger will take 75 hours to fully charge which is not adequate for most EV owners. Comparable Level 2 charging will a full electric range 11.25 hours with a 14-50 40amp EV charger.
The most popular EV charger for the Mercedes EQS is a Level 2 14-50 charger as this is the fastest available EV charging option.
The key benefits of Level 2 EV charging is faster charge speeds, lower overnight electricity costs and convenience of charging from home. Level 2 charging will significantly reduce charge times which will allow EV owners to fully utilize the 488 mile electric range and the benefits of electric driving.
All Mercedes EQS alternating current (AC) acceptance rate limits the vehicles charge speed to 11kW/h. This could potentially be improved in future versions of this EV which may have improved power acceptance settings.
