The NEMA 5-20 is the highest power level 1 EV charger. The NEMA 5-20 plug is a regular 3-pin residential plug often found in garages, wet rooms, bathrooms and behind refrigerators. Many newer construction homes will have NEMA 5-20 plugs
The 5-20 offers 16 amps of power (3.7 kilowatts per hour), which is approximately 20% more power compared to other level 1 EV chargers and will charge most plug-in hybrids in 2-3 hours, depending on the battery size. We provide a range of EV chargers in all different plug types, and we recommend the NEMA 5-20 level 1 EV charger as portable or fixed, wall mounted EV charger.
