This version of the BMW i3 was the first version to hit the North American market and based on BMW records was first launched in 2014. It came with a battery charging (acceptance) rate of 7.2 kWh with a smaller 23 kWh lithium ion battery. We receive requests for replacement or new BMW i3 EV Chargers. The EV Chargers are light, portable and can be moved if you rent or plan to move house, as well as be used outside of the home where plugs are available e.g RV parks.
Recommendation: If you look to keep your battery at full charge, seek to avoid range anxiety and take frequent trips (so need fast charging), we recommend our level 2 NEMA 14-50 9.6 kWh 40 amp BMW i3 EV charger. Charge times are the fastest they can be at ~ 3 hours from empty (does not happen in practice) and ~ 1.5 hours from a 50% battery
