The Volvo EV range uses the J1772 Type 1 Charger connector which is the North America charging standard, which is currently the main connector type for all non Tesla electric vehicles.
Volvo EV models are currently non-compatible with NACs charger connectors which is the Tesla standard charger types. All our level 1 and level 2 EV chargers are J1772 compatible with the Volvo range.
Most homeowners generally prefer to install a home level 2 Volvo EV charger. It is much more convenient and hassle free compared to commercial charging stations since the homeowner can charge overnight when the car is not needed.. Using a Level 2 Volvo EV home charger will reduce the cost of charging significantly. Generally a home charge will cost around $10 per charge, compared to ~ $30 at a commercial charging station.
All Volvo EV models support home charging, Level 2 commercial charging or even charging at your place of work. NEMA 14-50 charger connectors are compatible with most public facilities and are also commonly found in campgrounds or RV parks where charging overnight is possible.
The charging costs of your Volvo or an EV is dependent on your State with electricity costs varying significantly across the country. It is certainly better to charge you Volvo overnight.

DC Commercial fast charging is available with Volvo all-electric range models, however not compatible with Volvo plug-in hybrid vehicles.
A Level 2 NEMA EV charger is the fastest Volvo electric vehicle home charger, available in both NEMA 14-50 (4 pin) or 6-50 (3 pin) charger types. These are both 240 volt outlets
All Volvo models currently use a SAE J1772 Type 1 EV charger. Volvos are not yet compatible with NACS Tesla type charger connectors.
Level 1 EV charging is generally not suitable for EV charging since a level 1 EV charger does not provide enough power. It is useful to have a level 1 EV charger as a back-up in the vehicle since it can be used virtually anywhere.
EV chargers are interchangeable and many owners use various 3rd party electric vehicle chargers.
At EV chargers, level 2 EV charger are most popular, notably the NEMA 14-50 Level 2 EV charger. Generally, an electrician is required to install the EV outlet.
