Overview Jaguar EV Charging

Jaguar made significant strides in the electric vehicle industry since its introduction into the EV market in 2018 with models such as the Jaguar I-Pace, since then Jaguar has established a wider portfolio of Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) models, with the Jaguar F-Pace and Jaguar E-Pace.
The Jaguar EVs are compatible with the Level 2 Jaguar chargers sold at EV Chargers and the chargers are also compatible with a wide range of electric vehicles. The Jaguar models combine style, performance and continuously advanced technology. As a luxury electric SUV, this is typically indicative of a higher price point, however the longer electric range, Jaguar fast charge capability through DC fast charging and the advanced powerful driving experience are all elements that justify this price range.
Given the longer Jaguar EV range provided by Jaguar EVs, owners seek faster Jaguar home charger capabilities and therefore opt for the Level 2 EV chargers. Not only will this provide the fastest EV charger option but also future proof your EV charging solutions and will not require future upgrades.

EV Charging times for the Jaguar range

We have summarized the Jaguar EV Charging times for different Jaguar chargers and by each model offered within the Jaguar EV fleet, the calculations assume charging the battery from full to empty.
A Level 1 5-15 EV charger is a 3-pin residential plug type whereas both Level 2 chargers are 4-pin EV plugs, which supply a higher voltage of output.
EV Plug Type

Level 1 – 5-15  (regular 3 pin) 120 volts

Level 2 – 14-30   (4 pin electric dryer type) 240 volts

Level 2 – 14-50     (4 pin EV Plug) 240 volts

Connector type and charging rates for Jaguar EVs

The Jaguar EV range uses the J1772 Type 1 Charger connector which is the North America charging standard, the functionality of this charger is the head of the connector which plugs into the Jaguar charging port.  The charging rate for the EV will depend on the model, as the all-electric Jaguar I-Pace has a maximum alternating current (AC) of 7kWh, whereas Jaguar PHEV models have a smaller AC of 3.7kWh. This is determined by the cars on-board software and will not accept charge above this rate.
Jaguar EV models are currently non-compatible with NACs charger connectors which is the Tesla standard charger types.

Best charging locations for your Jaguar EV and PHEV

The majority of customers we speak to opt to charge their Jaguar EV or PHEV at home, due to the added convenience of home charging and lower charging costs when utilizing overnight electricity rates, depending on the U.S. State. Using a Level 2 EV Jaguar home charger will reduce the cost of charging significantly, as the cost of a full overnight charge is ~$9 (90kWh battery @ $0.10 p/Kw), comparative to a ~$40 charge at a Level 2 charging station.
However the Jaguar I-Pace is compatible with DC commercial fast charging stations using the CCS standard and therefore can benefit from higher voltage EV charging with reduced charging times. The I-Pace supports 100kWh of DC fast charging and therefore can charge from 0% to 80% charge in approximately 40 minutes.
All Jaguar models support home charging, Level 2 commercial charging or even charging at your place of work. NEMA 14-50 charger connectors are compatible with most public facilities and are also commonly found in campgrounds or RV parks where charging overnight is possible.
