Hyundai introduced the Sonata plug-in hybrid vehicle in 2019, featuring a reasonable 10-kilowatt-hour battery pack that offers an EPA-estimated 28 miles of all-electric range, more than sufficient for a typical daily commute. However, it’s important to note that Hyundai decided not to include a plug-in hybrid option in the latest Sonata model, instead focusing on the development of future all-electric models.
At EV chargers, we provide a range of level 1 and level 2 (240-volt) J1722 Hyundai Sonata EV chargers, with many purchases made for replacement or to replace broken chargers.
Our recommendation for Sonata plug-in hybrid owners is to opt for a level 1 NEMA 5-15 Hyundai Sonata EV Charger. Given the modest battery size, a level 2 EV charger would represent an unnecessary extra expense, as it would not significantly speed up the charging process. With a level 1 charger, you can still achieve fast charge times, with the battery reaching a full charge in approximately 2 hours from a 50% battery state. This ensures that your Sonata plug-in hybrid remains ready for your daily driving needs without any unnecessary expense. Our EV chargers can be portable or affixed to the wall as a wallbox type J1772 EV charger.
