Make sure the plug type you choose matches the outlet type you have at home. While many outlets look similar, they are definitely not the same. The one called NEMA 5-15 is the regular 120V household outlet that all home appliances use, while other outlet types, such as the 14-50 or 6-50 (The two most popular EV Charging Outlets), get installed specifically for appliances or EV Chargers that require 240V. That said, there are more 240V outlet types that are commonly used, such as the NEMA 14-30, 6-30, 6-20, L14-30, and more.

The BMW i3 is the first all electric compact SUV style car that really took the mass market in North America. It was BMW's first mass-produced all electric vehicle and was launched as part of BMW's "i" sub brand strategy to denote all electric. We receive a lot of inquiries and orders for BMW i3 EV chargers mostly from owners that need a replacement or have bought a used BMW i3 and need a new or faster BMW i3 EV Charger. We supply a range of BMW i3 EV chargers in different EV charging speeds and EV plug types to suit your needs. Given the battery sizes and battery acceptance rates (how fast you can charge). The BMW i3 came with a 42 kWh battery pack and as an all electric vehicle is best suited for a level 2 EV charger such as our NEMA 14-50 9.6 kWh 40 amp BMW i3 EV charger. From a 50% battery, this will charge the car in ~ 2 -2.5 hours depending on your model version and battery health.
